How many years has Families Relief existed?

Families Relief was first established in 1989, but they were first recognised as a registered charity in 1996.

How many staff are employed?

Families Relief has shops scattered across the country therefore they have 10 Part-Time staff who look over and are in charge of the shops. Families Relief also have 2 Full Time workers who are the General Managers for the charity.

What countries do you work in?

Africa, Bangladesh, Palestine/Gaza, Kashmir, Pakistan, United Kingdom, Syria, Burma, Tunisia, Sri Lanka, Calais, Chios.

How are the administration costs covered?

When you call in to donate or use a form to donate, there is always a box where by you can give Gift Aid. Also you may see Clothes Banks scattered across the UK… Families Relief uses the income from both the Gift Aid and Clothes Banks to cover the administration cost.

What is Gift Aid?

Donating through Gift Aid means charities can claim an extra 25p for every £1 you give. It won’t cost you any extra.


Where is the head office?

The head office we had in London has been closed down and now Families Relief new Head Office is in Sheffield. 133 Abbeydale Road, Sheffield, S7 1FE.

How many hours are involved in volunteering?

Families Relief does not have a set time for you to volunteer as they let the volunteer be flexible therefore an individual can help for 30mins to 5 hours or a whole day, it is entirely their choice.

What does volunteering involve?

You can get involved in anything from Charity Dinners to Street Collections or from Live TV Shows to Radio shows…

When do I start?

Simply follow the steps on the volunteer page and a member of the Families Relief team will be with you as soon as possible.


Does all my money go to the poor and needy?

Thankfully Families Relief is a 100% donation charity which means every penny you gives goes directly those who need and nothing is take out for administration costs.

How do I donate?

You can donate online by filling in the form or donate through your Paypal or Amazon account. If you are hesitant to donate online call us or visit our shops.

What happens when I make a pledge?

Once that you have said that you want to pledge a member form Families Relief will get in touch with you and guide you through the process. Whether you are wanting to do a bake sale or a charity dinner, Families Relief will help you through it.

Do I receive anything to say that I have donated?

When you donate you can ask to get a receipt or to get a monthly letter that includes all of Families reliefs projects.

What happens to my money after I have donated?

Families Relief has a office in all of the countries they work in which makes it easier to transfer money across therefore once you donate your money is put into the bank and then it is transferred over to the specified country or cause.
