Family Empowerment Scheme

GIFT US £30 PER MONTH TO HELP
CREATE SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOODS

Give a family a food parcel, you feed them for a day. Help them create a sustainable livelihood, feed them and their community for a lifetime!

Our Family Empowerment Scheme issues micro-loans and interest-free loans through community credit unions to widows in Sri Lanka, Niger and Guinea-Bissau. We monitor and support these entrepreneurs in setting up sustainable livelihoods for their family, and by extension, for the whole community.

Empowering Suhaila - Sri Lanka

A widowed mother of three girls, Suhaila lives in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Before our help, she was destitute, relying on begging as a means of survival. Suhaila was given a micro-loan from us, which she used to setup a mobile tuck shop. Our micro-loan, along with continued business support, has helped Suhaila not only earn a respectable living for her family, but has restored her self respect and dignity.

It has also meant that she did not have to send her children away to a orphanage, and better still, her three girls now attend school regularly - paid through her monthly income!
